Nokia Lumia 1520 Phablet Set for Sept. 26 Unveiling

Posted on Sep 12, 2013 | Source: iTechPost

Rumors pertaining to Nokia's first-ever (as well as the first WP8) phablet Lumia 1529, codenamed the Beastie or Bandit, have been floating around online for a few months. Now reports suggest that the Lumia 1520 will launch on Sept. 26.

The latest information is courtesy of noted leakster @evleaks, who has disclosed the launch date for the much-awaited phablet via Twitter.

"Nokia Lumia 1520: launches 9/26," reads @evleaks' tweet.

Moreover, the Sept. 26 unveiling for the first-ever WP8 phablet has been reaffirmed by Pocket-lint's sources.

"Pocket-lint's own sources have corroborated with the 26 September launch date. Nokia will have the largest Windows Phone on its hands by the end of the month," notes the publication.

However, no details are currently known as to where the launch event will take place. At the same time, neither @evleaks nor Pocket-lint reveal who their respective sources are, so the accuracy of the purported launch date is circumspect. Previous reports have hinted that the Lumia 1520 (first dubbed the Bandit and later the Beastie) will sport a massive 6-inch 1080p display and house the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The phablet is also speculated to tout a 20-megapixel primary camera and 32GB of on-board storage.

Recently, we reported that Lumia 1520 was headed exclusively to U.S. carrier AT&T after images of the smartphone leaked online.
