Sony on Tuesday announced that its next-gen gaming console, the PlayStation 4, will launch in North America on Nov. 15 and in Europe on Nov. 29.

In total, the PS4 will be available in 32 countries during this holiday season, Sony chief Andrew House said during a press event at the Gamescom conference in Germany.

PlayStation fans have already placed more than 1 million pre-orders for the console. "The response we've received has been nothing short of incredible," House boasted.

At E3, Sony already revealed that the PS4 will cost gamers $399; it will be 399 Euros and 349 GBP overseas.

During his presentation, House took a dig at Microsoft and its shift regarding always-on connectivity and indie titles on the Xbox One. "While others have shifted their message and changed their story, we were consistent in maintaining policies and a model that is fair and in tune with consumer desires," he said.
